Hi All, New to the board. Do you think with the Big South conference being the weakest it has ever been, will affect the talent we can bring to Winthrop? I know that I would rather go play in the SoCon or ASUN then the BS with the current teams in each conference. Thanks! Chilly

Chilly I'm not sure how much that a weaker Big South will really affect the talent that is brought in. If anything, that should open the door for WU to get back at/near the top, which should help attract players....because do recruits care that much that they are playing against teams like High Point and Campbell instead of Stetson or UNCG or something like that? And the ASUN is still very fragile. Liberty could be gone at any time, and I'm not convinced that NJIT is there for the long term either. That puts them in jeopardy of completely collapsing.

You bring up a decent point with teams leaving the ASUN, but 99% of recruits do care about who they are playing a weekend series against and care about the midweek games also. Also, the ASUN will never collapse, the BS would collapse before that conference. In regards to recruits coming in because they think its easier for winthrop to be at the top of the conference, that's a solid point. Only thing wrong with that is, no good recruit is going to come to winthrop to play in front of 25 fans against presbyterian on a friday night.
