The Winthrop baseball team split a Big South Conference twin bill on Friday afternoon against the Longwood Lancers, who battled back in the ninth inning to win the opener 9-7 on a two-run walk-off home run before the Eagles pulled out the lumber in the second game to claim a 15-4 win at Buddy Bolding Stadium.
Winthrop is now 22-17 on the season and 9-5 in Big South Conference while Longwood is 13-24 and 5-9 in the conference. The third game of the series will be played on Saturday or Sunday, depending on weather..

WU ended up winning 2 out of 3 in the series at Longwood, and the Eagles are now alone in first at 10-5.
