Thursday at 7pm on ESPNU (fingers crossed, no COVID for either club before then).
However today, Sunday, 3rd place UNCA took down 2nd place Radford 76-68 in OT. Radford started the game up 11-0, and lead by 14 at half. UNCA made 2 impossible 3's in the last 30 seconds of regulation to take the game to OT. The Bulldogs pressed RU the entire game, forced 24 turnovers and scored 31 points off turnovers! Yikes! I hope Vaudrin, Jones Jr, and the rest of the crew are ready. Same 2 teams Monday at 3.

UNCA should be our toughest match up so far in conference play. Hopefully we can wear them down too.

I think Radford is the toughest match-up. They play defense and rebound. We will need to take care of the ball and shoot a decent percentage to win as I expect the rebounding to be even. We have the better team by a good margin, but a C/D game will be close with Radford. We need to have a A/B game to win comfortably.
UNCA if they get hot from outside can beat us if we have a D/F game. UNCA is just so horribly coached. They have some talent but have a coach who doesnt' know what to do with it.

Wow. Nobody said it was going to be easy, at least not me. Survive and advance. Way too much going on to try to analyze this one. Guys, please make your free throws. Corbin, thank you so much. Several guys who are usually good for 4 to 10 points came up empty. Hopefully a character builder that will help us down the road, starting tomorrow!

Asheville made some crazy tough shots in the 2nd half. Koodos to them. I will say I was puzzled in the last 5 min w/ Kelsey’s substitution patterns. Corbin was forgotten about, so was Talford. Jones Jr.also until the last one minute of the game. I preface that by saying I think he’s a brilliant coach but keep doing what got your here. (11 man rotation).

Shoulda, woulda, coulda, all these apply. Trail by 6, lock down defense then lead by 6, then let it slip away.
If there's such a thing as a good loss I think this is it. Our guys can clearly see that they are not infallible, and can also see that the goal to win the BSC regular season, tournament, and even a game or 2 in the Big Dance is still within reach.
This one's over, don't let last night's game cause a stumble against Radford.

Anyone know what happened to the UNCAFans board?
I remember starting in the mid-2000s UNCAFans and WinthropFans being the top 2 boards to read in the league for a good 10 years.
There was gold on both boards, and it's sad both are all poof.

Yeah, and I just noticed someone here made a thread asking the same question (I would've put it in that thread last night had I not missed it). Thanks for setting up this board and maintaining it. It's just a bummer that UNCAFans and the old WinthropFans vanished, as both had so much history from the 2000s golden age that would've been fascinating to read again. |

I loved the old Winthrop board. I infrequently posted as "SoonerEagle" but mainly just lurked and enjoyed the spirited conversation. Several posters back then had really good inside information on the team. Also there was lots of good back and forth between not only WU and UNCA posters but High Point too. I used to enjoy reading the Coastal and Liberty boards now and then and see all the whining about Gregg Marshall. Ah, the good old days. I recall a couple of times the Rock Hill Herald even quoted the old message board. Nice.

I miss the old board too. I think I got 11 years out of it while I ran it, but it was becoming too much of a burden (with decreasing activity/engagement) to keep up with. I've checked with some people I know who post on the uncafans site, and they aren't sure what the deal with their site is.

We're just trying to provide all the Winthrop fans a place to post if they are so inclined. Everyone is invited.
Looking around it seems as many/most of the Big South boards are gone, Twitter and Facebook casualties.
